Hold on, Their Past is Calling

Someone responded to the Tuesday question, “is it better to get to know someone without knowing their track record first” with a response that I believe made me rethink the whole question. They basically spoke along the lines of why treat this new person differently than I treat anything new in my life? When I’m interested in a new hobby or job, I research it. I may think something is a good fit on the outside, but it takes me having to read up on whatever it is and maybe even asking around to get a better grasp on if what I initially thought was for me is actually worth pursuing. Not going into things looking for the bad, but being prepared for it. I also want to add that you have to know yourself and how much you let get to you. Of course, always do the safety check, but choose how much further you want to go after that. Everyone has a past; sometimes it's better when they can explain it. Always up to you though because hearing out explanations isn't your obligation. For me though, I know for a fact I let things get to me so the less I know, the better lol.
